No rush today. Up and a bit of blogging time, OK a lot of blogging time.
We mull around the house. The kids have a swim. We repack some of the stuff between the car and the van.

Continue reading “Day 8 – Hervey Bay – Day 5”OK, this is a long one….
Up at 5:15 Ugh! It’s about 30 or 40 mins to get over to River Heads by 6:25, ready for the 6:45 ferry. Joy! It’s still dark as we take off.
Continue reading “Day 7 – Fraser Island”Mark and Lisa leave today, so a 2-3hr drive for them to the Airport at the Sunshine coast. At least from there it is a direct flight home to Melbourne. So finally we get some family photos, all at the last minute of course.
Continue reading “Day 6 – Hervey Bay – Day 3”Like yesterday a casual morning. During the morning, I go to check if the car will start, nope!. I jumper it off the 2nd battery again and leave it running for a while. With the scangauge I know it’s putting in close to 14v. I give to about 40mins to charge.
Continue reading “Day 5 – Hervey Bay – Day 2”Relaxed Morning, the day is overcast and a little drizzly. Dawn has all these possum boxes around the house and most of them are full. One is pretty close to the deck and as the morning wears on we see a little face sticking out. While they are nocturnal, that doesn’t stop us feeding some banana to the Possum this morning. The banana has just come out of the fridge, so when she doesn’t come out straight away for a second helping we figure it might be brain freeze. Eventually she pops up again, and this time Caitlin gets a turn.
Continue reading “Day 4 – Hervey Bay – Day 1”We up by 6:30, although neither of us have had a great night sleep. Given we packed up most things last night, we on the road just on 7. We only get a few Kms up the New England when we’re stopped by roadworks at Bolivia. As we pass, we can see they are building this bridge over the valley to bypass this section of winding road.
Continue reading “Day 3 – Deepwater to Hervey Bay”The kids woke us up at around 7-ish, but with daylight savings, it feels like 8(-ish). The kids go and look for the eggs, and it takes them less than 2 minutes. There aren’t many places to hide them in a caravan. The kids then eat some chocolate and have the traditional hot cross bun. Then Liam started writing some of the first Easter Sunday paragraph, and I have to say, he did a magnificent job.
*No awards for figuring out who wrote that paragraph.
Continue reading “Day 2 – Deepwater”Up stupidly early and the kids are still asleep, I go to make a coffee and the next thing I see is both of them. Not only are they awake at 5:30, they’re completely dressed! Last of the stuff from the house packed and we’re ready to leave around 6am. I get a photo as I normally do of the kids hanging out of the car, but this one’s a bit different as it’s pitch black.
Continue reading “Day 1 – Annandale to Deepwater”Like most things this year, you can plan all you like, but sometime things are just out of your hands.
We’d figured a few months ago as everything seemed to be getting back on track that we’d try and visit Justine’s Mum’s just outside of Hervey Bay. We haven’t been up there since the start of the OZ trip.
Continue reading “Trip Preperation”When I installed the heater it came with a clear/white fuel tank. The best place to mount this was on the side of the rear toolbox. I was hoping to maybe cover it with some black checker plate or similar, but I couldn’t really fine anything suitable that wasn’t really expensive. So everyone gave me a hard time suggesting the van had a specimen jar on the back!
