Well what a blast that was. I don’t use the word “Epic” much, but I think this trip qualifies.

Well what a blast that was. I don’t use the word “Epic” much, but I think this trip qualifies.

Continue reading “Simpson Post Trip Summary”Another great night by the creek and some Turtle come to say hello as we packup.
The lockable canopy on George’s ute won’t unlock with the remote, and he’s not sure where the key is. After some faffing about he’s able to get the rear tray down and open it from the inside.
Continue reading “Day 16 – Innamincka to Tibooburra”Up around 6:30, not long after some mongrel in the next van up thinks it’s fine to start his generator. The missus must have wanted her expresso…. Selfish bastards….
Anyway, It’s a beautiful morning and the creek looks wonderful. We see another bunch of turtles come up, at least four. They must be used to being fed as they seem to close to bank where we are.
Continue reading “Day 15 – Dig Tree Loop”The wind continued all night, but it was still pretty comfortable and not too cold in the swag. I think we all had a better night’s sleep than in Birdsville.

Continue reading “Day 12 – Eyre Creek to Birdsville.”Well today did not turn out as planned.
We agree that the best plan is to go to Birdsville, get George’s car checked and then see what options we have.
Continue reading “Day 11 – French line to Eyre Creek”Up at 7, the regular packup and get ready. I had some roof load problems yesterday. I didn’t really secure the empty Jerry to the roof too well, and it fell off. Self-inflicted, so a better job this morning.
Continue reading “Day 10 – Lone Gum back to French Line”I wake just as the sun as risen. A quite cold night with a bit of wind.
We both are repacking the cars. The dunes are much rougher than we expected and thing are really bouncing around. I’ve got all food on the back seat, and we putting all the swags and chairs on top of them to stop the bouncing around.
Continue reading “Day 9 – Simpson Day 2 – to Lone Gum”Overnight a really strong wind came through around 4am. I was sure someone was walking around the camp, but no it was just the wind.
