Early Start, Like the moonrise last night we get to see the sunrise over these dead flat plains.
We hit the Road by 8, but we take a quick detour to look at the dam that’s here. No idea where it’s getting is water from.

Up at 6 and it’s really cold. We wanted to get away by 7:30 and end up driving out about 7:15, so that promising. We make our way up to Blinman, we pass dozens of Emus in the paddocks beside the road, a couple even cross in front of us.

A slow start as today should just be a half day excursion.
A wonderful sunrise in the campsite over the ridge, and I take an early morning walk along the nearby creek, while small scale, the rock face gorge is amazing.

A damn cold night last night, and as we didn’t have the swags under the awning, they are covered in dew this morning. It’s hard to find the motivation to get out of the nice warm sleeping bag, but needs must.

A nice night, a bit of rain and not too much wind considering where we are. The noise of the ocean is pretty constant, it’s nice to hear it. It’s warm in the van and even outside is not quite as cold as yesterday afternoon. We even see a couple of rainbows.

A slow start, we’ve only got 30odd KMs to go today and as the aim is a freecamp, so it’s not the place you want to spend all day. So we pack up pretty much at the last minute to leave at 10. It’s around this time Justine reminds me that the water pump isn’t working. I recall there being a possible pressure issue, but not stopped completely (there is some disagreement here!).

It’s raining this morning so we take the opportunity for a sleep in. It ends up being a bit of a lazy morning. Victoria has slammed the door shut on visitors from parts of Sydney, including the Inner West. I go online to apply for a travel permit, and fortunately it is only for people who have been in these Red Zones in the last 14 days, it will be 14 days by the time we enter Vic, so we seem safe. Having said that things might change at any time.

In the early hours of the morning the wind started to pick up, nothing like the last night at Port Elliot, and no rain. But the awning was making a fair bit of noise. So again the question, “Is it worth getting up and getting cold?”, this time the answer was “No”, but that meant we got broken sleep all morning due to the noise.
