Day 6 – Ganguddy to Home

I wake up early, my phones gone flat so I’m not 100% sure of the time.  I plug it into a charging cable plugged into the van, but nothing. I grab another cable….nope.   I plug the TV in, but it does not power up.  I plug the phone into a battery back and it starts to charge.

I realise the voltage has dropped to 11v and van has shut off the batteries to save them.  Sure enough when I can check the batteries, while reporting 38% State of Change (SOC) are also only reporting 11.1v, so the SOC is out of wack.  I do recall reading that if the batteries are not fully cycled the SOC can be wrong, I just didn’t think it would be so wrong.  The batteries rarely go below 80% before being recharged, so I might need to do some deeper cycles on them.

Anyway, I plug in my smaller 20amp battery and that give enough of a boost to restart the fridge and get what we need to do as we packup.

A little bit more rain overnight so while most of the gear is away and dry the ground area is wet.

We’re not in any hurry and take our time.  Just as well as my back hasn’t improved from yesterday afternoon’s kayaking trip

Liam and I drive down to the “beach” to collect the Kayak, which surprisingly had less water in it than I expected.

We have some fun and games rolling the awning up as somehow the awning fabric moved in the drum, we’ve never seen that before.   Once we worked it out, it was pretty simple to shift it back into place.

So just before 11 we pull out.

A fairly uneventful drive back.  We stop for fuel and lunch at Lithgow and make our way across the always busy Blue Mountains.

Home and unpack

A really nice break away.   Who knows when the next one will be…..

  1. Not a happy moment to see the batteries so low. Glad you had an uneventful trip home. A short trip but a good break to recharge your batteries. Hope Artie gave you a big welcome home.
