Over the past few weeks, each day we’ve been looking at the photos from the same day last year. A few days ago, something made me have a look at streeview up around timber creek.Continue reading “Spotto”
We all sleep in, and we really don’t get out of bed till 8. You can just hear the faint noise of the trucks as they pass. Can’t say I heard anything overnight. It’s been so quiet here.Continue reading “Day 115 – Nullarbor Straight to Peg 52km Cliff”
A day I’ve been looking forward to for a while. Finally hitting the Nullarbor, although sad too as it kinda signals the beginning of the end of the trip.
We go out via Coolgardie, not as big as I was expecting, almost a ghost town really. Back down to Norseman and finally heading east. That’s 200km done.Continue reading “Day 114 – Kalgoorlie to Nullarbor Straight”
Up, so we can be in town at about 8:30 for the tour of the Kalgoorlie Super Pit, the biggest open cut gold mine in Australia. I’ve been trying to get and do a mine tour for ages. I had hoped to do the Tom Price Mine, but it was not running the day we were there. In hindsight that might have been good, as I get to do the superpit instead.Continue reading “Day 113 – Kalgoorlie – Superpit”
At bit like Mt Isa, the mine and the town are intrinsically linked, with the town bordering the mine or the otherway around.Continue reading “Day 112 – Kalgoorlie”
Did I mention the wine last night?
People coming and going is the norm in caravan park, only here it’s a little more energetic, lots of people are leaving today, so a sleep in is not going to happen.Continue reading “Day 111 – Esperance to Kalgoorlie”
We take a loop out west of Esperance, via Pink Lake, only this one isn’t pink any more (the 2018 brochure still shows it as pink, but the sign says it hasn’t been pink in years, Mmmmm)Continue reading “Day 110 – Esperance – New Year’s Eve”
Were up earlyish, I’m surprised the road noise hasn’t been worse, but it was OK. We walk across the road to the BP road house, to our surprise the place is packed, there must be 20 people, so there goes a morning coffee.Continue reading “Day 109 – Ravensthorpe to Esperance”
A nice quite morning. We want to hit the road reasonably early. We think we want to try and get to Esperance on the 30th, The showground is operating as overflow camping accommodation, you can’t book, although I’m told by the local Visitor’s Centre that there is plenty of room. Esperance has a fireworks display on so I want to be sure we’re OK, so arriving the day before is prudent.Continue reading “Day 108 – Kulin to Ravensthorpe”
It’s been a great Christmas, having not yet seen Esperance, I’m really happy we had Xmas here, Albany’s been great. But it’s time to hit the road again. It’s rained overnight and we needed to do some early morning shopping, so packup is a little more difficult and it’s just after 10 as we roll out.Continue reading “Day 107 – Albany to Kulin”
