Day 111 – Esperance to Kalgoorlie

Did I mention the wine last night?

People coming and going is the norm in caravan park, only here it’s a little more energetic, lots of people are leaving today, so a sleep in is not going to happen.

Today we’re heading north, not sure how far, we’d like to get to Norseman, where the road back to the east coast turns off, but I want to go to Kalgoorlie before we start heading east.

Even though we had a late getaway, we still arrive in Norseman early afternoon, and being New Year’s Day a lot is closed. It also getting hot. It was 25 when we left Esperance (on the coast), now inland it is 42. We think about our options and decide to push on and stay three nights in Kalgoorlie, that will give us two days to explore, but we’ll need to do washing and shopping before the trip across the Nullarbor too.

On route to Kalgoorlie, the mercury hits 44, and as we arrive at the van park at 4pm, and get out of the airconditioned car, it’s hot, that kinda hard to breath hot. I’m sure we had hotter over the top end, but it goes to show how quickly you get use to the cooler temps, now we need to adjust back to the heat.

Needless to say the swimming pool is pretty busy this afternoon as we all take a dip to cool off while the van does the same.
