Jack up house

Angus was looking at the footing and sub floor area yesterday.  As expected, the house has subsided a little over that side.   Mostly due to the lack of a damp course.

We discuss options, and pretty much decide to try and level it up a bit.  To do any more would mean getting under all parts of the house and getting lifting kits, a really big job, so the focus is more on preventing it getting any worse in the future.  Being a timber house, they manage this with a couple of car jacks!

The plumber does some more under floor sewerage pipes and the guys start to replace the termite and water damaged framing timbers.  The red timber is termite treated stuff.   So hopefully they won’t eat that.

As the plumber is coming back tomorrow and that’s really the only opportunity he has to complete his bit, the guys are here very late rushing to get everything ready for him.  It’s not till close to 6 that they pack up and leave.   Makes it a pretty long day for them.

So as the 1st week comes to a close, there is much better progress than I hoped.  There was just no telling how bad things were going to be till after the demo and the floor came up.  As it was, it was mostly easily dealt with.  To get this much reconstruction happening already is pretty good in my books.

Next week they should be able to get the floor down and start getting the wall sheeting up.   Maybe we might be closer to 3 then 4 weeks?   Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

  1. Sounds like you got off easily being able to level up Liam’s room with two car jacks.
I am amazed at how quickly things are progressing. It probably does not feel like that for you all living through the upheaval, hopefully there will not be much rain in the coming weeks.
