A beautiful morning, still windy, but not strong gusts. The tides out and the water is a lot calmer than the washing machine it was yesterday.
We take a morning walk out on the rocks.
Day 121 – Port Lincoln to Port Lincoln National Park
We drive into town, I drop the family off at the local park and drive over to the car service centre. The 40,000km is a big one and they say they’ll need the car for 5 hrs. Our Sydney friends are over in the national park, and it would have been good to camp with them overnight, but we’re not sure if that’s possible.

After a lazy start to the morning, we all get organised, and take off to visit some of the sites of the National Park. We drive back to the start of the park to see Wanna Lookout, it’s blowing a gale, but it’s a great spot.

We’re in the process of packing up, and we see a splash in the water, a fish. It might have been, but if it was, it was beening chased by a couple of dolphins. The kids are excited for at least a few seconds, but a tree they’ve been climbing for the last few days keeps their attention.

The suns up and light is coming onto the van a little earlier than I would have liked. The waves have been noisier here than at many of the other beach camps we’ve been in. Not an unpleasant sound, but somewhat unexpected.

There seems to be a hell of a lot of ports in this place. We pack up and leave the van park.
There is this “Attraction” at the local visitors centre in Port Augusta. It’s called the “tunnel of time”. Part museum, part AV display. Some people we know might call it “big history”, trying to tell the story of this region from Gondwana though to current times in a walk of a few hundred metres.

Pack up and drive back to Port Pirie to replace all the food that we think might be sus.
We find that Port Augusta has had the 2nd highest temperature in the WORLD yesterday. Only second to some other S.A. town (Tarcoola). It will be another day in the low 40’s, although today is overcast so while very warm we don’t have the baking sun.
Day 127 – Peterborough to Broken Hill
It’s another hot morning, although today there is very little cloud cover, so it will seem hotter still.
We packup and drive down to Steamtown for the tour, it’s pretty clear we’re going to have the tour to ourselves. Given we are early we do some of the free exploring of the train shed that you would normally do at the end of the tour.

We arrive at the RFDS base at the Broken Hill airport, I must say, the signage to the place could have been better. Although there are a few cars in the car park, it would seem we are the first visitors here.

Today seems a lot cooler. It might only get to 40, and that seems a blessing.
We’ve planned to go out to Silverton today, a small town about 25km from Broken Hill. It was founded before Broken Hill when they found silver out here. Short story, silver ran out pretty quickly, but that mine down the road did pretty well.
