Day 120 – Streaky Bay to Port Lincoln

A beautiful morning, still windy, but not strong gusts. The tides out and the water is a lot calmer than the washing machine it was yesterday.
We take a morning walk out on the rocks.

I’ve got to say, everyone talks about the red dust of the top end and Pilbara. But down here there is a light brown dirt, the same talcum powder texture as the red stuff. It’s in every way just as bad. Being lighter in colour is show up more though.

Anyway we’re off, about 10km of dirt back to the highway. Although these are great roads, better than some of the highways we’ve been on.

We drive through Port Kenny, then stop for lunch at Elliston. The kids have a play in the park.

Onwards to Port Lincoln. We book into the van park for two nights, I would prefer to freecamp somewhere, but as the car needs to go in for a service tomorrow that’s not really practical.

Some school parent friends from Sydney, who did a small lap earlier last year, are doing a south loop through Victoria and SA for the Xmas holidays. They are going to be near Port Lincoln for the next few days. We catch up in a local park. Caitlin is particularly happy to see an old school friend after so much time on the road. We might catch up with them again on Friday or Saturday it things work out.

Liam feels a bit left out, so Justine arranges a call to one of his friends back home.
