Day 12 –  Maclean to Forster

Not as far today, about 360km, so we have a later start and a more relaxed start.    While we are nowhere near the highway, the local road is pretty busy and there is more road noise than I expected.   I guess normally you’d be down by the river and it would be nice and quiet.

All along the highway there is roadworks very hundred K’s or so, but none cause any significate delays.    The highway now bypasses Grafton and has recently just bypassed Macksville.  Last time we came back from Dawn’s we took the New England both ways so it’s been over 5 years since we’ve driven this road.   That was B.C. of course (Before Caravan!)

Past the Big Banana, and we threaten to stop and re-take a photo of Caitlin, as she soooo loved her last photo here.  Nearly screaming the joint down.

We find a spot for lunch just off the highway near Laurieton, as we arrive we find out that it’s actually in one of those small Woolworths shopping centres, hardly the atmosphere I was looking for and not really any option for parking the van.  While it wasn’t the plan, we continue on into Laurieton and walk the length of the main street.  Finally right at the end we find a nice café and have a great, if not overly filling lunch.  Laurieton is a really nice town, we might need to stay here some time.

Only 1 hour to go.  After that lunch, I’m glad it’s not any further, or I might have had to pull over for a power nap.!

We arrive at my Mum’s and a quick setup in the driveway.   Having been here at the beginning of the year, we know the setup pretty well.
