Day 10 – Lake Burrendong

I get up a bit earlier than the rest, Portable Solar Panel out early and a bit of quite time to blog.  While there are some early birds out on the lake it’s a really peaceful morning.   Mid-morning a large group down by the lake has left,  so we take a walk along the lake edge to see if it’s worth moving.  In the end there is nowhere remotely level, so we’ll stay where we are.

After lunch, Justine talks to the kids about a swim,  in the end they elect the lake rather than the pool, which would require a drive.   We’ve brought the reef shoes so the fact that the bottom of the lake is a bit average doesn’t matter too much.

When we drove in the other day, I must admit one of the first things that went through my mind was, “this looks like crap, there’s nowhere to camp and we’re booked in for 4 nights, what the hell are we going to do”.  We eventually found a good spot, everyone has their space, the view is great, while warm, there is mostly a nice breeze so not too hot.   So it’s ended up a lot better than I first feared, and we’re quite enjoyed being here.

It’s a double edge sword that today is daylight savings, so sunset is an hour later.   We start dinner and as we sit down of all thing a couple of Kangaroos start feeding a hundred meters or so away, we thought they may be over the other side in the peace with no campers, so to see them on this side is a bit unexpected.  In the end we don’t have a fire tonight, so maybe we’ll make up for it tomorrow night.
