Day -1 Wahgunyah to Seymour

Well today did not work out as expected.  When I woke up today, the plan was to work here for the rest of the day, spend one more night and leave early tomorrow morning.  I’d planned to drive to a rest area or something maybe an hour or so out of Melbourne ready for the run in tomorrow afternoon.

Thinking about the van, that will need a service soon, I contact Wonderland to see if they can do it.  I quickly get a reply that they service vans on Thursdays, cool I come back on Thursday 28th, so I book in.  An hour or so later, I think “Shit!, tomorrow is Thursday” (10/10 for that brainwave).  I ask, and yep, I can bring it in tomorrow, but I need to be early, 7am, I’m told.

It’s now about 1pm, and I’m trying to work out the best way to cover 3 hours of driving and be in Melbourne at 7am tomorrow?  The idea of getting up around 3am and getting ready to leave at 4 in this campground just doesn’t make sense.  I find out due to the Grand Prix, sites anywhere near Melbourne don’t exist.   So, after a lot of planning, I’ve booked into a basic caravan park in Seymore.  About 1.5hrs from Melbourne, but as it counts, only 1hr from Campbellfield and caravan central.

The complication is they close at 6, it’s now after 2.  So, I’ve got to complete all the work I need, pack up, and navigate out of the campground in the next 2 hours.

A rush job, but I make it, and about 3:30 I start driving out.  It’s a bit sad to miss one more night in this great location, but it makes sense to get the service done tomorrow.  If anything need fixing they can order the parts and complete the job on the way back.

Just before 6, after an easy drive, I pull into the van park.  I’ve got a drive through site, and as it’s level I don’t even need to unhitch.  I plug in as much to charge the batteries for the next few days as anything else and try and get some sleep for the next few days.
