Day 98 – Bunbury to Busselton

Slow start, we’ve not got far to go. In fact we don’t know how far we’ve got. We know we have about 5 days to get to Albany, but what path we’ll take getting there, what we will see is still uncertain.

We leave the van park and drive across the road to the kids park, the kids have a great time.

Finally we head in the direction of Busselton with the agreement we’ll work it out on the way there.

We arrive and find the tourist signs are all pointing to Busselton Jetty, this somehow rings a bell. Surprisingly, the jetty is 1.8km long, so long, it’s hard to see the end. They have built this amazing foreshore and park in the area. Justine is keen on going for the train trip to the end of the jetty, but this is booked out till late afternoon. We still need to decide where to stay tonight, but ideally it needs to be in the area so we can do the train trip tomorrow morning.

To our horror some van parks are starting to ask for more than $100.00 a night, just for a site. I don’t want to buy the place, I just need a place to stay. After a lot of umming and arrrhing, we find a farm…. a lawn farm… about 10km out of town. No toilets, nothing, but that’s the point we should be OK with this. Again while the days are hot the nights are ok, if not downright chilly.

After dumping the van at the farm we take a trip around the north west of the cape.

We head to the coast and take a look at “the Canals”, quite impressive. I only wish the water would have been a bit warmer and not as much wind, it looks so nice for a swim.

Via a few spots and then up to Cape Naturaliste. The walk could have been better. The vegetation is so high, I’m not sure the kids saw anything. Back via Eagle bay and the water here is super clear.

Finally back to the van and dinner, the temperature is definitely getting cooler.

  1. $100…and for a little more you can get a motel room. You know…tourism is truly shooting themselves in the foot….and if they can no longer walk…I just won’t care. Its like these travel and tourism shows on TV…everything geared towards luxury and comfort…resort style accommodation…time to get back back to basics….where are the bargains????
