We’re up reasonably early as we need to do a full packup to take the van over to get the fridge replaced today. I had suggested to Justine yesterday afternoon should we call and confirm, she said “don’t give them the opportunity to change it!”. Anyway we’re packed up by 8:40, even at this time it is warm and so humid our clothes are drenched. Anyway we should make the 9am booking with ease.

Given we are sans fridge still and there will be no action on this today, I look at places we might be able to visit. Other than the northern suburbs of Darwin, there doesn’t seem to be much up that way. So I look at taking a drive out to Wagait Beach on the opposite side of the harbour to Darwin. It’s about an hour each way. I can now reliably inform you that there is nothing there. Maybe a few dozen houses and that is pretty much it.

We don’t have too much planned today. Just want to get the fridge replaced.

Today we visit the Darwin Military Museum to look at the impact of WW2 on Darwin.

A bit of a sleep in, it is Sunday after all. When we arrived last night, the woman at reception said if we liked the look of another site, with better shade etc., then ask them and if it has not been booked we can move. Given its low season now, most van parks are pretty empty.

I might need to change the way I label these posts. It’s not like we woke up this morning knowing we would end up in Darwin. Most of the time we don’t really know where the day will end.

The kids have a morning swim so we don’t get out of the van park till 10.

We get up early so we can go back to bitter springs for another swim. We arrive at about 8am. This time we have the place completely to ourselves.
