Day 17 – Paronella Park to Cairns

The two day park pass included the three guided tours (day, night and hydro plant), but it also included an overnight site in their caravan park. Justine took advantage of the quiet and took Liam over in the morning. They were over there at 8am before the first tours so they had the place practically to themselves.

On the road, we get stuck for about 30mins at roadworks just north of Innisfail, but we are probably luckier than those going south, as that queue looked longer.

We take a detour to Josephine Falls. It’s looks like a great swimming spot, but being the long weekend, there’s already a heap of people here. So we just do the walk to the falls and have a look. It’s pretty cool, it would be amazing in the wet season.

I find it very difficult to drive past a bakery at lunch, so Babinda Bakery calls, Yum, then off to Cairns

We’ve got four nights, we’ve booked into the Big4 – Water Park, Water slide, Pools, but actually pretty affordable considering. It’s packed, of course, being school hols, but the kids will love it. We had planned to do a reef trip out of Airlie Beach, but Justine twisted her back when we were in Hervey Bay, so wasn’t up to it at the time, so we’ll try and do that while here in Cairns.

A quick drive around the town to get our bearings.
