Day 44 – Part 2 – In Alice

Well the last few days have been unexpected. After the fridge shut down, we headed into Alice to organise repairs.

On the way into town, Darren got a message that he needed to come back to Sydney for family reasons. Thankfully my Mum was still with me until Sunday, so at least I wasn’t here in Alice on my own with no fridge! We arranged for someone to repair the fridge, except they couldn’t come for 2 days. It’s at least 38°. Not the news i wanted to hear. So Darren left on Thursday morning. The fridge guy came not long after. He climbed up to have a look at the problem, then said ‘Oh shit’. Not a good sign. Long story short, the fridge needs replacing, and will need to be ordered in. At least a week until it will arrive. ‘Oh Shit’ is right.

Meanwhile the kids are hot and bored, so we do a few things around Alice, including Mega Fauna Central which was pretty cool (and free). Friday morning we did the Desert Park – part botanic garden, part zoo.it was really good, we saw lots of nocturnal animals, lots of birds and some really cool exhibits. Had to buy an Esky on the way back, as we have decided to keep moving. We have now arranged for the fridge to be sent on to Darwin- we will probably arrive at the same time. It’s going to be hard travelling without a fridge in this heat, we will have to just get through one day at a time.
