Down the Hume

Today we drove down to Melbourne to pick up the Van.  We could have had it delivered to Belmont, but it was cheaper to pick it up from Melbourne and I felt the drive up the Hume would be a good way to refresh my towing skills, or lack thereof.   800k’s without the van on the way down and then the same again on the way back with the van on should get us use to everything.

On the way down, the wind was huge, BOM reports had it at 50-60km/h with gusts up to 90.   It was pushing the MUX around quite a bit, we were glad we didn’t have the van on at this stage.

It’s been a long time since I’ve driven the Hume, and I have to say, while dual carriage ways that bypass everything are a quick way to get from point A to B but, oh my, they are boring after a while.

As usual Melbourne treated us for 4 seasons in one day, but we arrived safe and sound.
