Day 17 – Timaru to Akaroa

One final day before we leave.

An amazing sunrise this morning.  If you only look out the front window, this place is amazing.

Across the Canterbury plains, though Ashburton, we stop at a park for morning tea and the kids a have run around and play with some other kids here.

We head out to the Banks Peninsula towards the town of Akaroa.

Lunch at a café in a place called Little River then into the hills and we start to see the sensation views in this part of the world.

Akaroa’s a really nice looking town. We do a drive around town and stop at the local lighthouse. It’s 2:38 when we pull in, it was open till 2:30!  Into town centre and a bit of a walk around.

There really not any good campgrounds out here, just a bit too commercial, probably a bit close to Christchurch too.  As this is our last night and we need to start packing we pick the local caravan park.  They’ve got the sites terraced, so it’s one of the best views from a caravan park I’ve ever seen.

One last dinner out at the local pub.
