The next three days, are really just driving days. Hell the whole trip is driving, but the next three are just going to be a slog.

The last couple of months have been planning, planning, planning. Getting the cars and equipment ready. Of course that required some strategic purchases of some essential equipment! (No, they are not toys!)

About 6 months ago I was looking for what trip to do next, probably a solo camping trip just to get away for a bit. Looking for inspiration, I had initially looked at Cape York. A trip I’d love to do sometime, but at over 7,000km, it was a bit far. Most of that would be just regular highway driving too.

No early alarms today, and everyone has a good sleep in. It’s not quite as cold as the previous morning, well at least the thermometer has been in positive territory. There’s also been some rain overnight..

The day pretty much starts out as a carbon copy of yesterday. Up early, frozen water pipes, breakfast, and hit the road at 7. Only this time we’re heading south.

I turn on the water pump from the tanks and that works, phew.

Early alarm, that’s going to happen a few times on this trip. We hit the road right on 7am. Given it’s the beginning of the school holidays it seemed prudent. Yesterday’s holiday traffic was bad.
Traffic was much better than I feared, and we stop for Breakie at Sutton Forrest then take the Canberra exit off the Hume.

2nd June 2023
Another boy’s weekend camping trip. Not far this time, just up at Burralow Creek near Kurrajong. So about 1 and a half hours away.
I pick up Liam up from school at the start of his afternoon break at 1:40, a maths lesson lost, but he can handle that. I’ve got the car packed and after he gets changed we’re on the road just before 2.

Friday 21st
We’ll stay, so Justine books in for another night and we treat the kids to some pancakes for breaky at the restaurant.

Ok, time to do it all over again. We figure as we’re no longer showing symptoms, and haven’t for over a week (other than tiredness) we should no longer be contagious, but we’ll make every effort to keep to ourselves.
