A warm windy morning and we hit the road at 8.
Up through Kooranda, Berri and we finally stop in Renmark for an early lunch, my last S.A. Pastie and probably the best.

A warm windy morning and we hit the road at 8.
Up through Kooranda, Berri and we finally stop in Renmark for an early lunch, my last S.A. Pastie and probably the best.
Continue reading “Day 12 – Tailem Bend to Mungo National Park”A good night’s sleep. We pack up and drive the short distance back to Robe. As we’re so close to Robe we forgo breakfast and coffee at camp and will get something in town. It could be my imagination, but somehow I think George’s was packed up quicker than normal.
Continue reading “Day 10 – Robe to Coorong”We get a couple of early loads of washing on, so with a contingency of clean clothes we’re not out of the van park till around 9:30, we don’t get far as we only head into town to get a late breakie. After entering the packed café on the water front, we head to the bakery up the street. I convince the guys to try a Pastie, I shouldn’t have. It wasn’t that they where bad exactly, just the most unusual pastie I think I’ve had. The ultra thick shortcrust pastry was a bit much, and the filling would have been more at home in a pie, really odd!
Continue reading “Day 9 – Beachport to Robe”Well today we got our kiesters kicked, well and truly…. but the fun was to come…..
A much better night sleep for everyone, it was much better protected from the wind here.
Continue reading “Day 8 – Beach – 1, Darren, Doug and George – 0”Wow was it windy overnight. My awning seemed to cope, although it was making lots of noise, Georges had some issues and Doug needed to make some adjustments.
It also rained, not a lot, but it seems it must have been sideways rain, so the swags, particularly George’s is a bit wet.
Continue reading “Day 7 – Port MacDonnell to Canunda National Park”A good night’s sleep. There’s been a big dew overnight so the swags are a little damp, but it doesn’t take them long to dry in the sun.
We pull out around 10 and head for Hamilton. Lunch, Fuel, a bit of shopping and we start heading towards Port MacDonnell and the Beach
Continue reading “Day 6 – Grampians to Port MacDonnell”Well what a blast that was. I don’t use the word “Epic” much, but I think this trip qualifies.
A touch under 6,100 K’m in 19 days.
Continue reading “Simpson Post Trip Summary”Another great night by the creek and some Turtle come to say hello as we packup.
The lockable canopy on George’s ute won’t unlock with the remote, and he’s not sure where the key is. After some faffing about he’s able to get the rear tray down and open it from the inside.
Continue reading “Day 16 – Innamincka to Tibooburra”Up around 6:30, not long after some mongrel in the next van up thinks it’s fine to start his generator. The missus must have wanted her expresso…. Selfish bastards….
Anyway, It’s a beautiful morning and the creek looks wonderful. We see another bunch of turtles come up, at least four. They must be used to being fed as they seem to close to bank where we are.
Continue reading “Day 15 – Dig Tree Loop”The wind continued all night, but it was still pretty comfortable and not too cold in the swag. I think we all had a better night’s sleep than in Birdsville.
