Where do I start?
We get up around 7ish, and to protect the privacy, I’ll just say “one of us” has a medical condition that needs looking. Not life threating, no one did anything stupid, but it just needs to be checked.
It the words of Douglas Adams, in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, there is too much stress and anxiety in this world, so I’ll start of by saying, everyone is fine and it all worked out in the end. So with this in mind……on with the story…..
We elected to drive back to Halls Gap to get some service and see what’s open. There is a medical centre in Halls Gap, but it appears closed today. We ring Stawell.(The less said about Sawtell the better) and find out it will be days before we can get a GP appointment. We really don’t want to wait that long.
So we head for Stawell and the Emergency Department at the hospital, while crowded, it’s not crazy and the Patient is seen about 2hrs later. After a few more hours, they suggest that we really need to go to Horsham Hospital as it’s bigger and they can do some scans that Stawell doesn’t have the equipment for. So off we drive the 80 odd k’s to Horsham.
Only the E.D. at the hospital here is a lot busier, so more waiting.
It’s clear that we’re not going anywhere tonight, so we book into a motel.
More scans test and the unlucky patient is finally release at about 5am……
Anyway Horsham was a nice town and at least we should need to fight the Melbourne Cup long weekend crowed today.
