Over to the visitor’s centre, but most things are closed for the season or are overpriced for what they offer. I do however pick up some guides for regions we will be visiting over the next few weeks so this will help our planning.
Back into town to see the water, this time at high tide. There is a look out at the top of town, which apparently just opened and is part of the Chinatown redevelopment. Good to see the town investing in itself.
High Tide Low Tide
Back to the van park for lunch and a swim.
Out in the late afternoon, it’s low tide again and we drive down, on, then up Cable Beach.
The camel rides are on their trips. The access to the beach is so simple, I don’t even need to drop the tyre pressures. It’s a bit difficult navigating a path through the rocks to get to the northside of the beach, but we follow another 4×4 and find a way through. We drive a few kms up the beach to find our own private section.
Tonight is a full moon, that is rising about 10min after sunset, so we head back over to the town side (east side) to see “the staircase to the moon” it’s the moonlight over the tidal mudflats, I must admit I’d never heard of it before arriving in Broome, but apparently it’s a big thing. The daylight is still probably a bit too bright today to get the full effect, but we can still see it. A local photographer assures us it will be better tomorrow with the moonrise a full hour after sunset.
There are surprisingly quite a few more vans and campervans in the park tonight.
