Today we visit the Darwin Military Museum to look at the impact of WW2 on Darwin.
The museum is located at an old gun battery site. I knew Darwin had been bombed, but I was surprised to hear it was only months after the Pearl Harbour bombing. I was also surprised how engaged the kids were in the exhibition, I thought they might have lasted 10min, but they were good for the whole 2hrs we were there. I guess the ice cream helped.
After some lunch we head to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, as they have an exhibition on Cyclone Tracy. Hey, you can’t get too much of Darwin being smashed to bits. There is also a gallery showing a lot of local (stuffed) animals, so the kids like this.
On arriving back at the van park we can see there has been rain here, but we had nothing in town. The storms here are pretty isolated at the moment.
We’ve confirmed the Fridge arrived today (yay!), and it is scheduled to be fitted tomorrow at 1, it will be a bit of a pain, as we’ll need to pack up like we’re leaving then take the van over to them. Then find something to do for a few hours, bring the van back and setup again. But we’ll have a fridge again!!!!
