Up at 7 as we need to packup and be at the visitor’s centre by 7:45 ready for the 8am Lunette Tour. You’re only allowed on the viewing platforms when self-guided, but on the tours they take you down on the dunes and you can wander around and have look up close.

A good night’s sleep. There’s been a big dew overnight so the swags are a little damp, but it doesn’t take them long to dry in the sun.
We pull out around 10 and head for Hamilton. Lunch, Fuel, a bit of shopping and we start heading towards Port MacDonnell and the Beach

Boy was it a windy night. Chairs got blow over, and around 4am I could see the car awning ….that was such a good idea at 2pm yesterday…. is flapping about and one of the guy ropes appears loose. Nothing for it but to pack it away, not a pleasant job at 4am. It nearly got away from me, but was OK in the end.

We’ll as the day started early and we’re in a motel we get away pretty quickly. We top up the fuel and water tanks in town and start heading south. We make for the Mt Zero at the top of the Grampians. It’s a bit of a hike up to the mountain, so we continue on. We follow Pohlners road, it’s dirt, but not really very difficult driving and a 2wd could do it easy. We wonder when the decent tracks will start. Fortunately, we don’t need to wait long….

Not a bad night’s sleep, but I’m up just 6 after. The Murray certainly looks high and seems to be running at a bit of a clip. While I’m looking at the river a couple of fish jump out, I didn’t see them, but by the size of the splashes they must have been pretty big.

A terrible night sleep, always seems to happen the night before a big trip. Alarm set for 6:30, but I’m up at 6:15.
I’ve arranged to meet up with George and Doug at 7am at the Clover coffee shop, apparently they open at 7. I arrive a few minutes after 7 but there is no sign of them, Mmmm. Then I get the message they gone to another shop as Clover is still closed (I hadn’t even noticed).

Another great night by the creek and some Turtle come to say hello as we packup.
The lockable canopy on George’s ute won’t unlock with the remote, and he’s not sure where the key is. After some faffing about he’s able to get the rear tray down and open it from the inside.

The wind continued all night, but it was still pretty comfortable and not too cold in the swag. I think we all had a better night’s sleep than in Birdsville.

A beautiful night sleep beside the creek and I wake up just as the sun is rising.
We packup, however this time, everything is covered in sand. Nick goes for a dip in the creek, he’s gamer than I am, it must be pretty cold.
