The elusive Great Ocean Road, well that’s what it seems like to me. The initial plan was do this in July ’20, and as we know that didn’t work out. (I have to say the NSW outback trip was pretty good though)

After waking several times, as you do when you know you need to get up extra early, the clock finally says 4:45, not much point trying to get 15mins more sleep. Like last time Liam is up early. We get ready in near record time and are on the road by 5:45. I’ve got to say doing a U turn with a caravan in Clarke St is interesting at the best of time, let alone 5:30.

With the heater on all night it’s toasty warm in the van, maybe a bit too stuffy, so we’ll need to remember to leave a window open next time.

A great night’s sleep and with the windows open a little it’s nice in the van. Overnight we’ve had a bit of rain, not heaps, so it shouldn’t be too much trouble to get out today. It takes a while to get pack up and get going, and finding the path out is a little interesting.

While a lot of people left the park yesterday, a few more are leaving today. The park is huge and by the map seems to have over 250 sites, it would be packed in Summer, but today it looks like we’re down to maybe two dozen or so vans.

Overnight we got a fair bit of rain and we could hear the awning flapping in the wind a few times during the night, but never quite violent enough to get up to roll it up.

Overnight the sound of the ocean is louder than normal, not a bad thing, but unlike last night hardly any wind. We’ve had some heavy rain overnight, but we wake to a nice sunrise and an bright morning.

Well last night was interesting. We arrived back at the van yesterday afternoon to find everything outside soaked, we elected to leave it all out, it couldn’t get any wetter. Well overnight, we were woken at midnight with the rain driving, wind howling and the awning thrashing, really rocking the van.

A great morning, we’ve only got 70km to go today, so we’re in no rush. The morning is much like yesterday afternoon, alternating between light rain, mist and then the occasional sunny period. All withing 5min or each other.

A beautiful sunny morning, not a cloud in the sky. It’s fresh with a light breeze, but not super cold. The lake is a little lower today, not too much, maybe a few cm’s. The little sandbar that is in front of the campsite is a little larger than it was yesterday. I‘m assuming there must me a small tide here in the lake.
