Like most things this year, you can plan all you like, but sometime things are just out of your hands.
We’d figured a few months ago as everything seemed to be getting back on track that we’d try and visit Justine’s Mum’s just outside of Hervey Bay. We haven’t been up there since the start of the OZ trip.
We had planned to drive about half way, and found a farm camp just outside of Deepwater, just before Tenterfield about 680km from home. Initially we were going to stay three nights, so we had two full days to relax, but a few weeks ago we found out that Justine’s brother was also planning to go up at Easter. As he lives in Melbourne, we hardly see him and I can’t think of a time that both of them have been at their mother’s place at the same time. So to maximise the time, we only going to stay two nights now.
Then last weekend there was an outbreak in Brisbane and Northern NSW, complete with a Greater Brisbane three day lockdown on Monday. So we started thinking about a Plan B, we figured we’d still go to Deepwater and then maybe float around Northern Inland NSW and see what might happen. We weren’t planning on taking the Kayak, as there was really nowhere to use it., but there was a point that we thought we might as who knows where we might end up.
Well as the week progresses, all the signs started to look positive, and as of today, it looks like we back on track.
So today we packed up the van and car, filled the water tanks. We’ve hitched up so we can get away early tomorrow. It’s going to be a long drive, longer than any day on the Oz trip, so we want to get away early.
Liam helped checking all the tyre pressures and pumping up those that didn’t make the grade. Caitlin helps taking stuff out to the van.
