Up early and get the car over to the local Isuzu dealer for it’s 30k service. They indicated if I got it there earlier they would get it ready sooner. After waiting an hour to be driven back to the van park and seeing the car hasn’t moved yet, let’s just say I’m not holding my breath.
I organise flights back to Sydney for Ken’s funeral. Then a mid-morning swim, as there is not much else to do.
After lunch we get the call that the car is ready. We spend the afternoon in the old Chinatown area. The roads and footpaths are being redone at the moment, so access to the shops is worse than George Street at the moment and it loses some of its appeal.
Again it’s low tide, we’ll need to make sure we get down to the water tomorrow at high tide. The tides here move about 7-8 mtrs.
A trip over to the car wash to remove some of the mud we collected going into the Bungles. The sign at the only carwash in town say “No Excessive Mud, you will be asked to leave”, makes me wonder what constitutes excessive mud in this place. Anyway most of the mud has gone now.
Finally we walk from the van park up to cable beach to watch the sunset. Then over to the local hotel for some dinner.
