We’re up reasonably early as we need to do a full packup to take the van over to get the fridge replaced today. I had suggested to Justine yesterday afternoon should we call and confirm, she said “don’t give them the opportunity to change it!”. Anyway we’re packed up by 8:40, even at this time it is warm and so humid our clothes are drenched. Anyway we should make the 9am booking with ease.
We turn up at the address in google maps. Company signs on the entrance, but the office is empty, not empty like they are running late, empty like “hey, who stole the furniture?”. I double check their web site, yup, we’ve got the right address. At this moment I’m not sure if it is mild panic setting in or “what else can go wrong”. We ring them “oh we moved a few weeks ago, our new address is …..” That piece of information would have been useful….. YESTERDAY! Seriously = Piss-up-Brewery, nope they’ve got nothing.
We travel to the new office, back the van up their driveway, they’re not sure they can fit the fridge through the door, apparently the van manufactures install the fridge before fitting the door…..Great. They tell us all thing going well it should be ready in just over an hour.
So we have an hour or so to kill. We visit a great playground that we drove past on the first day. The kids burn off some energy. Then a visit to the Darwin Mall, as much to kill time as anything, 2.5 hrs pass, Hmmm, going well then? Finally we get the call that it’s complete and we pick up the van. They seem to have done a good job and we can be on our way.
Back to the van park to do a basic setup and get the thing back on power to get the fridge down to temperature.
You could set your watch by the storm. I reckon it was about 1 minute to 2pm and bang, lighting, thunder and an absolute tropical downpour. The roads start to look like rivers. As quickly as it starts it’s gone and by about 2:30 it’s over
.
At 3 we head over to the waterpark we missed out on yesterday, the kids go wild. We work out the climb up is about 85 stairs, and they must have run up it nearly 10 times. They better not argue on the next walk we have!
Finally a big shop, not only to fill the fridge, but to get those items it might not be so easy to get on the next leg of the journey.
