Day 19 – Sofala to Home

A very cool night, so even with the heater left on (albeit on its lowest setting) is pretty fresh.  We’re up early to try and get home around midday, to unpack and get ready for normal routine tomorrow.

Back to the town, then through to the back of Lithgow and meet up with the main highway again.  The slow trip up Victoria Pass and the drudge over the Blue Mountains.  Fortunately there is not heaps of traffic.

The M4 and for the first time for all of us, we take the new West Connex.  Normally I’d just take Parramatta Road, but with the Van on, I’ll just make it quicker and easier on myself.

Arrive home, have one of the quickest unhitches out front (it’s a bit tight to get the van lined up correctly) and with the Kids help, we’ve unpacked the van and car in near record time.

After 18 Days, 3765km, of which about 1000km was on dirt, we’re home.  A really interesting trip.   And while it was a place I’ve wanted to go, I always figured something else would take priority over driving out to a post in the middle of nowhere.  The circumstances and some luck really pulled it off.

Lots of memories for all, hopefully a birthday location Liam will remember for a long time, and one pretty great souvenir……
